Join us for a special storytime with an accomplished local author, Susan Coryell. Lani's Adoption Day is a beautiful story about adoption and identity, and it is perfect for kids of all ages.
From Susan Coryell, author of Kiki's Dream, comes a touching new picture book that explores identity, family bonds, and cultural heritage. In Lani's Adoption Day, five-year-old Lani celebrates her special day with her mixed-race Hawaiian family, but questions about her birth mother in Japan weigh heavily on her young heart. Through gentle storytelling and meaningful family moments, Lani discovers how both her Japanese heritage and her adoptive family's love shape who she is. As her parents and sister help her explore her unique story through a special adoption-day gift, Lani finds peace in knowing she belongs to two beautiful cultures. This tender tale speaks to adopted children and their families while celebrating the diverse tapestry of modern family life.
